This month we would like to showcase our Community Builder Women of Power Award Winner 2018, Anthea Trout.
Anthea has been active in the Bonteheuwel and surrounding areas arranging to feed the children and have games and activities with the children of Bonteheuwel & surrounding areas. Anthea has been doing this with women volunteers from the areas as well as outside of the area to help her make these kids happy even if just for a day. Bonteheuwel is rife with gangsterism, drugs and crime-ridden. Most of these kids come from underprivileged homes and all they really need is a little bit of attention and some love.
When Anthea arrives in the area the children know that she is either bringing them some food and sweets or some love and attention and so they crowd around her knowing that she comes with some happiness. Sometimes the meal she provides is the only meal they will have for that day. Anthea spent her childhood days in this area and knows first hand about how dangerous the area is as she was a gunshot victim herself.
Anthea and her team is hard at work organizing her next couple of events for the kids of Bonteheuwel. Bridgetown and Bishop Lavis. She is having the following events and is appealing to anyone for donations towards the following children's events in December 2019.
